Oh I love this! I think it is wonderful how she can just pop over at lunch and read.:-)

I'm having a day when everything is a tick against continuing the dissertation. This description is another since I desperately miss that twilight feeling you describe!

I thought it was so neat, too--it made me remember the temp jobs I worked and how I used to love to snatch reading time here and there on the metro, or during breaks.

I'm sorry you're having a frustrating day, Mouse--I hope things move along better tomorrow.

Have a super weekend! Have you read The Help? It's on my list of books to read, my sister really enjoyed it and her book club gave it a positive review overall. I want to read it before the movie comes out.

You've reminded me that my parents used to get Reader's Digest from my grandparents, who subscribed to it. When I was just about L's age, I enjoyed reading it every month. I didn't always read the articles, but loved all of the jokes and short stories. I may have to subscribe again some day, I wonder if my own kids would enjoy it the way that I did...like a kid who was getting to enjoy something for grown ups...almost like getting away with something.

I did read The Help--recently. I went into it with lots of doubts, but in the end I liked it. Sometimes I tend to find Southern women's fiction a little too formulaic, but this was "fresh" and different.
