Books, books, books!For the better part of last year I've been hoarding books. I don't tend to buy my books from a bookstore, unless a new book I am dying to read and/or just must get my hands on (like these guilty pleasures, for instance) comes out and then I have to head to the store pronto. A Reading MiracleMy son is in the second grade. His teacher has her students read daily for a maximum of 30 minutes, and complete a writing assignment related to the reading. We’ve tried everything to encourage our son's reading. We purchased books about animals. And books by Roger Hargreaves about Mr. Grumpy and Mr. Messy and Mr. Funny – all fitting for my son’s personality. We even purchased High School Musical chapter books. But my son insists on reading – and writing about – the same book over and over again: I Like Me by Nancy Carlson. [more]

Twilight series 'sucked' me inAs much as I loathe being herded to and from work by bus and train with hundreds of strangers, I also look forward to it every day. I enjoy this time for several reason; I love to plug into my iPod, zone out, and become completely absorbed in a book. I recently jumped on the bandwagon and started reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. The series consists of four books: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Favorite bedtime books for babies and toddlersAs part of our nightly bedtime routine, my husband and I read three books to our children. But things have been getting a little boring lately (at least for us adults!) and I’ve been looking to expand my babies’ bedtime reading repertoire. Plus, with Christmas and Hanukkah coming up, books will make a great gift. Although we don’t always read books specifically about bedtime, I like the idea of reading books about bedtime at bedtime.
