Your description of L reminds me of me! I'm the one who's always reading the list of warnings on the way to the roller coaster, who reads the little fold out that's in the back of the airplane seat, who scans the pool rules. I like boundaries too, and call myself a rule follower.

I'm not sure if I knew this about L? So what if he were to get a letter from his school (even if say...his parents wrote it?) in the mail before school starts that outline the rules/regs of middle school. Maybe if it weren't coming from the teacher, but from the INSTITUTION, maybe he would be more likely to feel like he had to meet expectations? Just a thought.

That's a good idea, Omaha. I have to say that L. is pretty good at following rules at school, because I think he does have such a fear/respect of them. Our problem has always been at home...but I think with this transition to middle school it might be good to make sure he's very aware of all the rules that will be in place. I know MS is very different from elementary school in that respect...
