A long, long time ago, a regular reader of my other food blog, Sweet Peas and Pumpkins asked for a good meatball recipe. Rookie Cookie, I know it took forever for me to post a meatball recipe, but I was looking for just the right one. I think I have found the ultimate meatball recipe. This is a recipe I found on another one of my favorite blogs, Baby Bangs. Amanda posted this family recipe that automatically piqued my interest for a couple reasons: 1. It is a family recipe. I figure that if a family is ready to put their mark on a recipe, it ought to be pretty good. I have a lot of recipes I use that are good, but only the truly great ones get used again and again, slowly becoming a *family* recipe. 2. It is a family recipe (stick with me here). Amanda, like most of the readers of this blog, is a parent. If she is making this recipe for her family and children, chances are it is a good family-friendly recipe. 3. The recipe is simple. There are many meatball recipes out there, but many are tricky and ruin my desire to attempt making them. In addition, since this recipe is deliciously simple, you can jazz it up however you may like, suiting it for Italian style meatballs, Swedish meatballs or however you like. I made a few minor changes to the original recipe: First, I used ground turkey instead of lean ground beef the original recipe called for, but I suspect the beef would work beautifully. Second, I sauteed the meatballs instead of dropping them in a sauce. Lastly, since R is not prone to liking meatballs I named these Houston Meatballs, as Amanda is from Houston *and* ever since our March trip to Houston, R is all about anything "Houston." Houston Meatballs 1 egg, beaten ½ cup breadcrumbs ½ cup Parmesan cheese 1 garlic clove, minced Dash of dried parsley Dash of sugar Salt and Pepper to taste 1 pound ground turkey Beat the egg in a large bowl. Add the breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, sugar, salt and pepper. Mix well. Add the ground turkey and mix well. Form the meatballs: Saute: Serve: Delicious! I made a double batch and SPH had a meatball sub the next day. Mmmm. SPC
