Lucy Cousins Maisy books are delightful. The text is super simple, the illustrations are bright and have a childlike quality to them and kids love these books. I began reading Maisy books to my son when he was a tiny infant and he immediately reacted to the bold large blocks of colors. Even though we read much more complex books now, at almost three my son still often chooses these to read before bed. Here are a few of our favorite Maisy books: Maisy Cleans Up seems like a simple story about cleaning and helping a friend clean but really it's a cute tale about delayed gratification. Maisy and her friend Charlie clean up and although there are cupcakes ready to eat in the kitchen , the floor was mopped and needs to dry so that have to wait to enjoy their treats. Maisy Drives the Bus is my son's favorite. In this book the author not only taps into the desire of so many little kids to go on and or drive a bus but there is counting too! I wish every bus driver I ever had was as kind and happy as Maisy. Maisy's Pool makes me giggle every time I read it. Maisy is adorable in her little stripped swimsuit as she problem solves, first the pool has a hole then Eddie the elephant takes up the whole pool! Nothing gets Maisy down . Maisy Takes A Bath In this book Maisy is trying to do something so simple, take a bubble bath, but the doorbell keeps ringing. Her friend Tallulah wants to play and eventually decides that if Maisy won't come out to play, she'll get in the tub with her.
