“You calling me a liar?!” , Talia's Blog

I walked into the room angry because six of the boys did not come back to work after cashing their checks the other day. Now they were back.

I sat in a chair outside their semi-circle. A few of the boys tried to talk to me but I ignored them. "She’s mad," one of the boys said under his breath. I was glad they could see that I was upset.

In my head I was fussing, "Why do I continue to do this?" [more]

Anyone Game?, Jessica

Months ago, a good friend from my old neighborhood, emailed me about The Grocery Game. This friend happens to be a smart and sassy shopper, so when she started to explain that this website was a way she was saving tons on her grocery bill, I listened intently.

The Grocery Game promotes its services as a way for busy shoppers (read: women) to arm themselves with the power of "Teri's List," a list of all the advertised and unadvertised shopping specials for a particular store, in combination with your local coupons, to maximize your savings. [more]

Jell-O Playd-O, Jessica

Yesterday I shared a new favorite snack the boys have enjoyed eating this summer. The "Jell-O" oranges have been fun to eat, our recipe doesn't actually call for any Jell-O, but uses natural gelatin.

If you have a box of Jell-O laying around your house, Whitney at Rookie-Cookie.com shares a fun, creative and easy way to use it that will have your kids almost as happy as eating Jell-O.

The Internet for kids

"Sex," "porn" and "YouTube" are among the top ten terms searched by kids, according to a recent report by the computer security company. Kids are curious; we have to applaud them on their thirst for knowledge! But how 'bout we keep the sex-ed lectures in the classroom or from their parents, and not from some raunchy video. As a parent, it is your responsibility how safely your child uses the internet. [more]

When in doubt, throw it out., Talia's Blog

I am unsure of what to write about today. I wrote a sentence, and then momentarily deleted it: "My surroundings have been spinning like I am in a tornado." The spinning is of my own making. [more]

Hooked!, Professor Mom

I was getting T. ready for bed the other night when she asked suddenly if I knew what an hypothesis was.

"Tell me," I said.

She paused for a minute, to recall the information, and said, "it's an idea you can test!" [more]
