G is now three and by all accounts, including his own, he is a BIG BOY. He will see a baby and say, "I am not a baby anymore, I am 3!" Not that he was a baby at 2 either, but for me, turning 3 is a big milestone. So, it seems odd to me that now at 3 he is reverting during meal time. Now don't get me wrong, it could be something much more inconvenient or messy...like potty training. G has got the potty routine down pat, and for that I am very, very thankful. But recently, despite being a BIG BOY, his meal time antics have become decidedly not so much. In a nutshell, the only way we can get him to eat a decent dinner has been for me to feed him. Unless we serve him something he absolutely cannot resist, without me taking the spoon and feeding him, his dinner is not eaten. SPH contends that should just let him not eat, and that this too shall pass. I agree with SPH, but yet, I am tired of having a ridiculously hungry (read: ornery beyond belief) 3 year old the next morning. I am ornery enough myself in the morning, so having an ornery 3 year old is no fun. I think SPH is right. I think I need to stop feeding G his dinner and he will work out this issue. But then again, I think that in a small, small way, I enjoy it. Let's face it, these two boys of mine are growing up way, way too fast, and it is not certain if we will have a baby in this house again. Perhaps G is just allowing me to play mommy to him in a little boy way one last time. So next week, I will stand firm and get tough with the meal time antics. But for now, I am enjoying just a small piece of my formerly very little boy G. Happy Weekend All- SPC
