No Fooling

Now that spring is continuing to show its presence more frequently, I love clearing out the snowman pillow, snowman decoration and anything reflecting winter in our home. Out with the snow, in with the spring, both with the weather and with our home. I love the look of having dyed Easter Eggs out for decoration, but with hard-boiled eggs, you don’t want to leave them sitting out at room temperature for too long. A friend taught me how to blow-out eggs a long time ago, and it has become a tradition (most years) for me to dye some blown-out eggs to have as decorations in the spring. Although it seems counter-intuitive, you can poke holes in either end of an egg quite easily. Use a straight pin, thumb tack or anything thin and very sharp. Insert in one end: And then flip and do the other end. Jiggle the pin around a bit so you have a slightly larger hole in each end: Then huff and puff and the egg’s insides will come pouring out one end. Collect the eggs in a bowl (I have a recipe coming tomorrow) for later use. Once the eggs are all hollow, rinse them lightly and then dye as usual. Don’t have an Easter Egg dyeing kit handy? Simply use this homemade recipe for dyeing Easter Eggs. Be sure to retain the egg container for drying: There you have it: an easy, fun way to bring a little spring brightness into your home. Now hold onto the egg whites and yolks, I have a easy, budget-friendly, healthy dinner recipe to share with you tomorrow. SPC
