The List. Do you have one? While some lists are exciting or exotic, my list is well, um, functional. I am writing about my permanently-afixed-to-my-refrigerator grocery list. Having resisted being so practical in the past, I realized that a running list of depleted grocery items was crucial once I became a mom and my ever-multi-tasking brain needed help. But once I started recording the items I need for each week’s grocery run, I realized how beautifully this method works. I mean, do you think I would ever realize that I used the last of the rice vinegar without writing it down? Probably not until I reached for this pantry item in the midst of cooking and it was missing, necessitating a last minute grocery run. Can you say mealtime stress? Instead, with a running list on hand, each week I simply work these items into my regular grocery list and voila, pantry crisis solved: I put the list smack dab in the center of the fridge, alone, at eye level so I cannot forget to list items there. Oh, and yes, I still don't know how to spell "worcestershire sauce" without looking it up online or a dictionary, something I don't do before listing it on my list... SPC
