Parenthood is full of firsts...first smiles, first teeth, first steps, first, first, first. But somewhere along the way, you begin to count the "lasts" too.
We've been doing a lot of lasts here in the Sweet Pea Family, but one big milestone last for G is that he is done with diapers. Yes, my sweet G decided it was time to use his last diaper, as he is officially, in his words, "not a baby, a big boy!" This is a very welcome "last" indeed.
Today is a less momentous, yet still important, last: the last day of summer for R. R is headed to kindergarten tomorrow and for some reason, while I am astounded at how my baby boy has grown so quickly, I am not feeling weepy or emotional. It's the "lasts" not the "firsts" that usually have me searching for a tissue.
So I share a simple summer treat on this, our family's last day of summer: frozen grapes*.
I honestly forget who was the first person to suggest I try freezing grapes as a snack, but I remember thinking it a bit odd. But a few more suggestions later, I gave it a try, and I have to tell you, they're pretty delicious. No chocolate dipped frozen banana mind you, but a pretty tasty little frozen snack nonetheless.
So as I prepare to pop R's supplies in his backpack for tomorrow, I pause to share a frozen treat with you:

*Be careful with young children and frozen grapes, as they can be a choking hazard...I have yet to give these to G (2 1/2 years old) because I just don't trust him with them yet.
A Big Last
