Books About Trucks

Lately when we go to the library all my son wants to read are "Truck books" specifically trucks, not cars or other vehicles , only trucks. Here are a few that met his 3 year old standards. Little Dump Truck by Margery Cuyler was our newest library find this week. Hard Hat Pete takes readers along with him and his trusty dump truck as they go about their business. Not a complicated book but the text bumps along well and my son loved pointing out all the different construction vehicles along Hard Hat Pete's day! The Construction Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta was a facinating book , I never knew there were so many kinds of vehicles I simply refer to as a "digger" . My son was in hog heaven although I shortened the text considerably for him, it was long and I wanted to get through the whole alphabet, if I had read all on each page he would have fizzled out around M. If you have a child who likes letters and construction they will love this. Cars, Trucks and Things That Go by Richard Scarry was handed down to us and it's a long book filled with trucks of all sorts. There is actually a story in this huge book filled with illustrations and of course a hidden character on every page. My son loves finding the hidden "GoldBug" but I warn parents do not read this before bed if you have other books to read as well, it's very very long. Trucks by Usborne Touchy Feely Books was a favorite in our house early on. Geared towards babies and young toddlers the pages are tick, with ample sensory sections to feel the different textures of parts of the trucks. Bold bright illustrations round this off to be a good intro into the world of truck books.
