I love the Berenstain Bears by Stan and Jan Berenstain, and am so excited that my son loves these books too. The messages are classic and wholesome but they talk straight to kids, not down to them. Here are 4 books that seem to be read over and over again at our house!
Don't Pollute This is a long book for toddlers, I often skip parts of the text but we look at every page. The message is fantastic. Older preschoolers would be just fine with it's length. Papa Bear doesn't think things are too bad in the environment but when Brother and Sister Bear visit a local professor they are quickly shown how serious the the environmental problems in Bear Country really are.
He Bear, She Bear This is a rhyming masterpiece. This book is reminiscent of Dr.Seuss with it's repetitive rhymes. I love that it says that both he or she can do so many jobs, it's simple, fun and kids love it.
Inside, Outside, Upside Down is another simple book that you will have to read over and over because kids love it. My son screams " Again mama please!" before I am even done. The book follows Brother Bear as he gets in a box.. flipped over, and over, loaded onto a truck, across town , falls off and gets out. Simple but great for teaching the concepts of inside , outside and upside down!
Visit The Dentist I think that this book alone prepared my son for his visits to the dentist more than any other. It follows Brother and Sister Bear as they go to see the dentist and he gives Brother Bear a cleaning and pulls Sister Bear's loose tooth! It addresses all of the fears little kids have without saying not to be scared, instead it just explains what everything is.
Berenstain Bears are classic in my opinion and if you aren't familiar with them I hope you are inclined to check one out soon!
Disclosure :These books are all from my personal library, these are unpaid personal reviews of the books.
