Finding alone time to focus just on my oldest child is challenging now that I have an infant who is nursing and generally gobbling up my attention. So times that used to be functional like bath time have now become fun learning time. Here are some fun games to play !
Bath Paint Color Lab!
This is an old standard but by adding some small yogurt containers and plastic spoons you can mix colors and foster wonderful pretend play. My son pretends he is a scientist mixing up blue ooze to put on trees to make them taller! Have fun and run with your kids imaginations.
Foam bath letters are cheap, easy to find and versatile. You can stick them on the wall and spell things or our favorite game, rescue the letters.
I throw letters in and tell my son they are swimming. Then I will start screaming ( not too loud my daughter is sleeping) " Help me Help me I am drowning! I'm the letter P!" then he will find the P and be the hero. You can even take it one step further by saying "Help me help me I make the sound Puh Puh. " then your child needs to figure out which letter makes that sound.
Who knew you could teach phonics and clean your kid at the same time!
This requires some prep, you need to get those little dinosaur toys that are prevalent at dollar stores and party supply stores, a yogurt container and water. Freeze the toy in the water then at bath time let your little one pretend that she is a paleontologist discovering a dinosaur in a huge iceberg. This is a favorite in our house!
