Luckily snow doesn't have quite the same effect here, so one rarely sees the empty shelves in stores that I've seen on the news--until the weather prevents deliveries for a few days.

Because we roast our own coffee, we always have a good store of beans on hand--it would be a tragedy if we went short on that! And we've been eating a lot of pancakes here.

I grew up in a house where the pipes froze in the winter. I doubt we'll ever be without running water, but I always buy a case of bottled water before a big storm. Just in case. Hot cocoa and lots of milk are must haves. The ingredients for my new favorite baked potato soup. And yes, the fixins for a hot breakfast. We've had snow and winter weather for so long now (snow in huge piles since early December) that it's lost some of its magic. What would be magic now would be SPRING! Though the groundhog day festivities have not left me optimistic.

My hot chocolate recipe is by far the best hot chocolate I have ever had anywhere, so thank you very much for linking to it! I should run it again one of these days.

It's funny how much of the pleasure of bread has been lost because of having to bake gluten-free.

I live right near a grocery store, but it's shocking how often we still run out of things. Shocking and kind of silly.

It IS the best, beck! Yummy!

We always get the empty shelves around here--it's pretty crazy, really. I was amazed at how little was left yesterday when I did a grocery run.

Thanks for reminding me that I want to make that potato soup, Omaha--it looks amazing!
