Oh, this is very, very sad.  It is sad to think of all those kids that have horrible, inadequate people as the only adults in their lives, isn't it?

It WAS sad, I know.  Somehow whenever I ride the train I come away with one or two sad stories I just can't shake.

Even before I had a kid, I was always sure to clean up my language or topic of conversation if others' kids were within earshot. But I guess you're right, that last comment pretty much confirmed that he wasn't going to clean up his language for your kids, since he obviously wouldn't do it for his own!

You know, I was always careful, too--even before having my own children. I think most people are, really, and when they're not, there's usually a good reason why.
