This year was so low key, it felt really different. There was the blizzard that left everyone snowed in. The hours spent on facebook. The family gatherings that were said and done before Christmas was even here. The time we've spent at home, 4 days at home, as a little family. I've just been...distracted. I'm not sure why. I've got 362 (is it now 361?) days to figure out a way to dig in and really enjoy the holiday next year. I also have this whole week to enjoy being at home with the kids. To enjoy the holiday as a week long experience from Christmas to New Years instead of just one day. Oh, and my B? Currently working on her letter to Santa for NEXT year. Yikes.

Scooter's on melatonin for school nights now. We try to give his body a break on weekends and holidays, but we made an exception for Christmas, and he fell asleep within 25 minutes of getting into bed. It even meant we woke up before he did (thanks to the dog).

I'm glad Scooter hasn't figured out how to install such a ticker--he'd be telling me how far off Christmas is multiple times per day!

I know exactly what you mean, Omaha--trying to extend Christmas so it feels like a long holiday, and not just a single point in time. We too have one week left, then it's back to school/work.

Mouse--melatonin used to make L. fall asleep really quickly, but it gave him nightmares and didn't help with the night waking. Miraculously he's been sleeping through the night lately (now that I said this I've jinxed us for sure), even if he goes to bed on the late side.
