It would be awfully hard to be without a safe place, some place to shed the burdens we acquire while moving through our days.

Trillian and I have been happy with moving here because it has meant the Scooter has two places where he can feel settled and comfortable. Going down to his grandparents' doesn't require a big transition. Sometimes it's "away" enough to let go of the week's frustrations, but not so removed that he needs a long time to settle.

What's so great about my parents' house is that it's new enough and different, yet old and familiar. L. has his own room, and he sleeps well there. THe kids enjoy the space there and enjoy being there--it's definitely a safe space for all of us.

So great that he enjoys visits to grandparents'. Those are some of my favorite, most comfortable childhood memories!
