This was wonderful Aliki! I'm making a note of these suggestions for when E-boy is in school at lunch time. We lucked out this year b/c his preschool class is from 1-4, which means I can feed him lunch at home.
I used to teach middle school and I always had cafeteria duty. We had parents (lots of them) packing their children cans of pop! And that's all they would drink or eat for lunch! Then I'd get to have them in my classroom afterwards :-)

Thank you! for this post. I'm shopping for school supplies this week and will definitely put those containers on my list. Our B drinks soy milk already so we'll be investing in the soy milk boxes for the novelty portion of the meal. She would live on fruit and cheese, so that will be a daily must. We'll probably mix it up, giving her choices of crackers, peanut butter cracker sandwiches (we make 'em with low fat ritz crackers), or real sandwiches. She's excited to venture into the world of lunch boxes. I'm glad you can help me keep it healthy!

I think lunch box lunches are fun! They can be much more interesting than cafeteria lunches--I think. I'm dreaming of the day I can pack more things in L.'s lunch--we'll see if that day ever comes.

WE have a few lunchbox cookbooks, although they don't always help. Do you have the Laptop Lunch User's Guide? I often make the polenta squares and send those along with some tomato sauce for dipping. (and they're gf!)

And 25 minutes! Oh, I'm jealous. My kids have two TEN MINUTE "meal periods" during the school day. Yeah, I make lots of little things. Ho hum.

Two ten-minute lunch periods just doesn't seem fair, beck. I love polenta, but neither T. not L. like it in the least. Maybe it will be an acquired taste--good idea, though, for kids who do like it, especially since it's gluten-free!
