My husband and I have "date night" every Friday, which really is just a quick dinner with just the two of us, while his mother watches the baby.

Even though it's only an hour and a half at most, I'm thankful for it. The adult time, a sliver of sanity when I'm not obligated into singing "Camptown Races" for the 20th time today.

Due to my temporary custody of a dog that I rescued, (along with the baby, my husband and the 20 stray cats I care for) I not only burn the candle at both ends, I've lit a fire in the middle also.

I yearn for me time so badly that I can't even focus on work the past few days.

Thank God for sanity hour tonight!

We used to do that when the kids were babies--have a grandparent hang out with them while we ate, or ran a quick errand. It's gotten so much more difficult now that they're older, though--I think going out together requires much more planning!

Good for you both for taking care of your needs--I need to learn from you!
