We have a month left before school starts, but I bought supplies yesterday. It wasn't too bad, between $30-40 for both of the kids combined. I still have to get backpacks and new uniforms, though, later in the month.

I hope Liam has a WONDERFUL year!

I really like the idea of the contract and may borrow part of it (particularly the food stuff).

I rebelled a little with the supply list. We went to Target and bought the stuff they had on deep discount. So I bought the requisite number of markers, but they're not "washable." I'm also thinking about sending him with old folders that may or may not meet their requirements ("laminated"? I think they mean the heavier, slick card-stock ones). Nothing but his backpack and lunchbox are supposed to have his name, but he has a perfectly serviceable folder from last year with his name on it. Certainly at least one folder will end up with his name on it at some point, so why not that one?

I really do think schools should encourage these types of supply "recycling" techniques. I don't think I'll ever get used to how much new stuff is required/requested each new year!

I don't know how you got away with spending so little on the kids! I'm jealous...
