I had just nine days in England at the age of 18 with a group of recent graduates. I've wanted to go back ever since that trip, and wonder sometimes if I'll really make it back. I certainly hope so. Do you have pictures? A scrapbook? From that time? I always find looking at the pictures makes me feel better. Helps me to know that yes, I was really there. I didn't just dream it.

Oh - and by the way, I like meandering, contemplative posts. Keep 'em coming!

I do have lots of pictures and photo albums, and I look through them from time to time--I guess I've come to accept that I won't be able to actively integrate those years into my life now; still, I would LOVE to go back there some day with the kids and with Scott, and connect them to that part of my life.

I haven't traveled nearly as much as I should have, particularly considering my field. We've still got a bunch of stuff from two weeks in Paris, 10 years ago, that I don't know what to do with--and that's the physical stuff.

I think it can be so easy to put off going back (or going at all), especially once you get past those college years. Now it's all about what age will the kids appreciate it and is it worth spending that money when there's x, y, and z.

Mouse!

What are you doing posting to my FE blog? Aren't you busy? ;) I'm sending you an e-mail...!

I have a list of places I want to take the kids but I do think a lot about whether they will appreciate place a, b or c if they're too young, and that maybe we should wait until they are older before we do any serious traveling. But then again, I traveled a lot when I was small and although I don't remember too much, I do know it did change my life in many ways, and impacted me, even when I was very small.
