Part of what made my post-partum depresion so unbearable when I first was a mother was the utter isolation - and once I connected with other mothers, it lifted. It's hard to remember that we continue to need to touch base with other parents, to know that what we're going through is not just us horribly alone.

Parenting along is *really hard*--perhaps one of the most difficult things a new parent can do. I'm sure this probably accounts for many post-partum depression struggles, and hurts many marriages, too, as both partners struggle to feel less isolated.
