Sadly, my first book of the summer is a self-help book of sorts. Or a parenting book, I guess. I'm giving a go at 123 Magic to get a handle on discipline around here. My goal is to end the cyle of shouting, our three-year old just finds too much joy in stirring up lots of it!

Our high school's info center lets teachers check out books for the summer, so I've got a stack of four novels to read in the next 8 weeks too. If they're any good, I'll definitely post about them as I finish them.

I just read a parenting book, so don't apologize for reading self-help books! The one I read was _Little Big Minds_--really good!

Yes, send your recommendations this way--I'd love to see them!

1,2,3, Magic is a great book to help get things under control, that whole no emotion way of handling things-which isn't easy! Go one more step and read "Raising A Thinking Child" by Myrna Shure. 1,2,3, Magic helps but it doesn't tell you steps to follow after the time out. I found that using "Raising A Thinking Child" helped my child and I practice what my child should do different the next time. I was a teacher and this helped me greatly in reducing repeated misbehavior in class.
