Public service announcementsLately I've been seeing the most astonishing public service announcement on local television. It's supposed to teach people to identify the warning signs of a stroke, which is obviously something that would be helpful to know. But something about this commercial seems off. Take a look. The groovy 70s vibe is such a creepy contrast to the deadly serious subject matter. Then again, I will never forget that Face + Arms + Speech = Time. This got me thinking about some other bizarre PSAs I've seen. Thanks to the glory of YouTube, they're all online. Who can ever forget the time C3PO busted R2D2 for smoking cigarettes? Or this message from our friends in the cheese industry? (What the hell is the guy in that one, anyway? Is he supposed to be an anthropomorphic cheese wheel? And if so, does he want us to eat... him?) This one actually scared the hell out of me. I think my therapist would agree: this is nightmare fuel. Oh, and that stroke PSA? That's just the radio edit. Here's the album cut: Act FAST: post links to your own favorites in the comments! |

This one is my fave. So totally 80s.
