Autism and the environment

Julie Deaner

The link between vaccines and autism has been a controversial issue for some time, but now doctors and researchers are looking at the environment as a possible cause. A friend passed along an article about autism linked to rainfall. It reports that children in the wet, northwest areas of the U.S. are more likely to have autism.

Whether genetics, the environment, or vaccines are causing autism, the most important thing any of us can do is educate ourselves about the disease. Here at FamilyEducation, we have the resources you need to inform yourself about autism: from possible causes and behavioral symptoms, to diagnosis and coping. Take a look and let us know what you find helpful and what you would like to see more of.
