It's finally spring!! Let's all take a moment to bask in this glorious statement. Especially for those of us who live in colder weather climates, the warmer weather and re-emergence of all things green is certainly a sight for sore eyes after a long, dreary winter. Spring is also the time when a ton of yummy, healthy, colorful produce is in season. After a winter of eating comfort foods, why not clean up your diet a little and incorporate some fresh fruits and veggies into your meals? CNN had this great article of all the produce that is in season right now, and the health benefits each has....

April 22, 1970 was the very first Earth Day. There are a lot of 40th anniversary Earth Day freebies out there. For example, the EPA has a free coloring book, and Babies R Us is offering a free reusable tote bag with a coupon. Just make sure you don't acquire too much free stuff, and that you recycle or donate your unwanted items. Don't miss the point of Earth Day!

With the recent announcement of Michelle Obama's Let's Move campaign, childhood obesity has been a hot topic in the news lately. And with more and more children surpassing the "obese" weight mark, I was beginning to wonder when health professionals were going to start taking this epidemic a little more seriously. Finally, it seems they have. A new journal, appropriately titled Childhood Obesity will begin being published in June 2010. While I applaud this as a step in the right direction towards overcoming this growing problem, I can't help but think its a little sad that it has even gotten...

Tax Day is upon us. The Associated Press reports that almost half of U.S. families didn't have to pay federal income taxes for 2009 because their earnings were too low or they were otherwise exempt. Did your family owe a lot in taxes or get a large credit or return?

Have any of you watched Jamie Oliver's new show Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution? If you haven't, I highly suggest you start watching it, DVRing it, watching it on the Internet, or any other way possible. This guy is my new idol. I don't think it's any secret that school lunches these days leave A LOT to be desired. And given the ever-growing obesity epidemic among today's kids, I think it's disheartening (and downright scary) that the nation's schools aren't doing more to help curb it.
