Protect yourself from ATM scamsDo you know what a card skimmer is? It's a little device that can be attached to anything you swipe your debit or credit card through. It stores your information for later download by its owner. And in today's troubled economy, card skimmers and other ATM scams are more common than ever. [more]

A classic comes to lifeAnother classic children's book comes to life on the silver screen. Personally, I think this one looks like the movie of the year! Maurice Sendak's classic children's books, Where The Wild Things Are comes alive on the big screen October 16th. Directed by Spike Jonze, the trailer sucked me back to my childhood immediately. I was a huge fan of these books growing up, and I was swept back in time when I saw the book in motion while watching the trailor. [more]

The highlight of my weekend....riiightI love living in the city. As a single 20-something-year-old, I don't think there is anywhere I'd rather be than the hustle and bustle of a busy city with lots to do and lots of people. However, there is one constant annoyance that really bugs me. Parking tickets. Or more specifically, the parking ticket guy who stalks my neighborhood several times a day, looking for his next victim. I swear, this guy hides in the trees, tickets in hand, and waits. If a car is in a two hour limit area for a minute too long, an orange ticket appears. Where does he hide? How does he KNOW? It never fails! [more]

This week in things that didn't make a differenceWhat a monumental week! We said goodbye to March and hello to April with a string of stunning, far-reaching events. We finally saved the environment. Hackers destroyed the Internet. And America's retirement funds were finally replenished. Oh, right: none of that happened. [more]

A fabulous fadOne of my closest friends just brought her newborn son home from the hospital on St. Patrick’s Day -- her cherub-faced, teeny-toed, fuzzy-haired, adorable, adopted son.

Safety is only skin deepAs I grow older, I am becoming more aware of what I am putting in my body. But, what about what I put on my body? We are told to avoid pesticides and other toxic chemicals by eating fresh, organic foods. But have you thought about the level of toxicity in your lotions, SPFs, makeup, and other personal care items? [more]

Is exercise bad for you? It's stories like this one posted on MSN that make me angry. As the article rightly points out, people you would hire for any other service are required to pass, at the minimum, a state exam. So why in the world aren't these so-called "personal trainers" required to do the same? Quite frankly, it scares me. [more]

Not so super marketWatching the stock market over the past year and a half has been like riding one of those rickety wooden roller coasters: sometimes it's exhilarating, sometimes it's terrifying, and by the time it's over for the day you feel beaten to a pulp. The Dow plummets by hundreds of points and it's the end of the world as we know it. It jumps by a similar margin, like it did yesterday, and Jim Cramer actually ascends to heaven on a winged steed. All this proves is that, when it comes to investing, people are anything but rational. [more]

Have a green EasterThe Easter bunny is stretching and getting ready for his April 12 rounds. He will be delivering colorful eggs, chocolates, and surprises for all. But along with all the Easter bunny's goodies comes a lot of waste. There isn't much about Easter that screams cheap and eco-friendly. But what if Easter could be as green as spring? Here are some tips that will save the Earth from extra waste and save you from shelling out too much dough: [more]

How do you Tweet?I just posted a new tweet on my Twitter account. It said something along the lines of "What's the point of this?" Twitter is the newest fad in social networking. From what I understand (and that's very little at this point), you have a limited amount of space to let everyone know how you feel and what you're doing. It's like a brief play by play of your day. (Because, you know, everyone is just dying to know what you had for lunch, how it tasted, and when you plan on eating again.) [more]
