Tuesday's Tip: Easy Peasy Holiday Kitchen Preparation Tip #6

One of the easiest ways to relieve holiday stress is to keep it simple, stupid (or in our home, “silly.”)  While we have a culture that tells us bigger, more and extravagant is the way to go, there is something to be said for simple, less and easy.  This philosophy applies not only to holiday preparations but can apply to everyday tasks as well, including dinner.

I love to cook, but when it turns to this time of the year, I slow down considerably.  New and novel recipes are often replaced with good ole’ stand-by recipes that can be easily and quickly prepared, hence maximizing the time I have for extra holiday fun.  My slow cooker, which I love to use no matter what time of year, comes to the forefront in my cooking.  In other words, my cooking becomes simple, less and easy.

For this week’s Tuesday’s Tip, I encourage you to keep things simple in your weekday meal plan.  For a little inspiration, here are some of my favorite very easy meals:

Breakfast for Dinner

Soup and Sandwiches/Quesadilla/Panini

Pasta with your favorite jarred sauce

And some of my favorite easy recipes:

Slow Cooker Italian Bean Soup

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Pizza Bread

Slow Cooker Chicken Paprikash

Easy Mom's Tilapia

Fast or Slow Chili

Any of these recipes can be made quick and easy, a real plus during the busy holidays.  Need further inspiration?  Google fast or quick recipes and you’ll be blown away with how many recipes pop up on your computer screen.  Better yet, pick up just about any cooking magazine and there is sure to be a “quick and easy” recipe section.
