Emma's Back on Top! Most Popular Baby Names of 2015

Which baby names are the hottest in the U.S. right now? Noah and Emma, according to the latest lists of the top 100 baby names released by the U.S. Social Security Administration.

Emma returns to the #1 spot, which it previously held in 2008. Noah held steady as the top boys' name -- a position it claimed last year for the first time

Has your favorite baby name has become "too popular?" Not to worry! An interesting new report on millennial parents by Goldman Sachs reveals that "popular" names are not so popular anymore, as parents seek more unique and different baby names (or "brands," as they see it). In other words, today's parents are choosing from a far larger pool of baby names than previous generations, so the top names are given to far fewer babies these days. For example, in 1940, the top five boys' names accounted for over 20 percent of all babies born. In contrast, in 2014, that stat was down to just 4 percent.

So, if you choose one of the latest "top" names, chances are, there won't be too many kids in your child's class with that same name. Because there will also be Londons and Pipers and Jaxons and Jaxsons in the mix (all names that appear on the latest top 100 lists). And, if parents follow the latest Hollywood baby name trends, there will soon be plenty of Avris, Rivers, Reigns, and Jameses (yes -- girls named James, like Blake Lively's new baby) in America's classrooms. To each their own!
