Home decor and teaching tool!

I don't homeschool, but I do teach my children every day with intention. Some days I may have specific goals but often I simply jump on the questions my 4 year old asks and try to stay in tune with his development. One way we have been promoting this came about quite by accident . While styling our house for sale the stager suggested something " Martha Stewart" for our kitchen cart. So I made this Wipe Off Weekly Menu Board I saw on Make and Takes.

Soon my son started reading our menu every day. At first I didn't even know he was reading it until I forgot to erase it and add a new dinner to it. As I made my coffee he whined " Mama we had Baked Pasta last night, I don't want it again!"

So now during the day I write out our schedule on it, not because it's strict just because it gives him something more than just our dinner dish to read. Also while many times he needs help reading because they are in context , he can figure them out without real frustration.

As a former teacher I am used to having everything in a room labeled but this goes to show that you can still surround your child with print ( and challenge them with new words)without labeling everything.
