I hope the evening turned out ok after the loss of the pie. This post really hit home with me--I have high expectations of myself, friends, etc., and put so much stock in what I think "should" happen. I'm trying to let it go more and just let whatever will happen, happen. xo

It was a good lesson, for all. I think I'm usually pretty good about riding out setbacks, etc. but this one really threw me, and made me think about why it bothered me so much--I know it wasn't *just* the pie!

Impressive that you didn't yell. I probably would've yelled. I can feel that feeling, that frustrated frenzy. Why is it that disaster always strikes in that moment! The perspective you took from it is admirable. Your grandmother was right though, our worries are small when measured against the big stuff. Still, it doesn't make a beautiful pie on the floor any less heart-breaking!
