i had to laugh, a little, when i got to the end. ;-) but i remember those years. i REALLY wanted guess jeans. i survived the trauma of not getting them though.

for my kids it is a wii. they want one so desperately. ain't gonna happen!

I know--I try and remember my own middle school years, and it's funny to think how trivial all those things were in the end--we grew up just fine without them!

We will probably always face that a little bit too, we tend to shelter our kids a bit. That being said, don't you find that there other parents on the opposite end of the spectrum too? Even stricter. We let our kids watch Disney channel, which some people think is appalling. Our kids get soda (sprite or other unleaded types) for a treat sometimes. I buy packaged food. Gasp. All I try to do is find balance...but wow that can be tricky sometimes, huh?!

There are plenty of parents on the other end. My kids get Sprite as a treat, too, and L. has Nerf blasters as toys. I have a good friend who has a strict rule against any blaster toy of any kind, and I always feel self-conscious when she is over here with her kids! It's a tough balance...
