Tonsillectomy...at the ripe old age of 26

Yes, that's right--my title just about says it all. On February 18, I'm going under for my very first surgery. A surgery that most people have when they are, say, six or younger. However, I seem to catch strep throat by simply breathing, and I get some form of sore throat at least three or four times a year. So alas, my doctor finally advised me to have my tonsils out. Relic

I was sorting through some bins of old clothes recently, in an attempt to do some summer cleaning. I had already made a big run-through of the bins a few months ago, but there were still a good many clothes to sort through, and I wanted to pass some along to our neighbors across the street. I have mixed feelings about sorting through baby clothes and toys. When I was pregnant with T., a local friend dropped two bins of clothing off at our doorstep one day, and her daughter was barely two. [more]

Get well soon

I spent the better part of the day yesterday in a hospital room. And, when I wasn’t in the room, the rest of the day was spent waiting to hear news about my 86-year-old father-in-law’s double knee replacement surgery. Although this procedure didn’t have the urgency of the emergency abdominal aorta aneurism operation he had a few years ago, any surgery is risky business, and priorities are firmly jolted back to their rightful place.
