It's not always about the lesson

As (almost) always, I picked up K-Man at school and headed off to a park (with a pole). It’s (always) always amazing that he can play at school all day and then want nothing more than to keep on playing when I pick him up. 19 hours

G and I dropped off K-Man at her parents' house at 5:30 PM on Saturday night and picked him up at 12:30 on Sunday afternoon. We were gone for 19 hours. And it felt like a lifetime.

•    We went to a great dinner at a place we’ve been dying to try.
•    We drank some good wine.
•    We went to a friend’s 40th b’day party (QUITE different from mine).
•    We stayed in San Francisco for the night.
•    We went out to brunch on Sunday morning.

Patience is a beerchew

One of my best friends in high school was from Spain. So, whenever I’d get all [filtered word]y about something, he’d let me know that “Patience is a beer chew.” It’s a mantra that I’ve taken with me (over the many, many, sadly many more years since high school), but still struggle to live by.

It's the bomb

Contrary to perhaps both popular opinion and damning evidence, I’m not really much of a drinker. Yes, I like to have my glass of wine or a beer now and again, but I’m not the guy that goes home every night and pours himself a drink. Hell, I don’t even necessarily have any alcohol if I go out to dinner with friends. But every once in a while, I truly need to get my drink on.
